SSWF – Rest + Relax Staging
Introducing: Rest + Relax Staging Services
How long have you been in business?
Since May 2017
Are you solo or have a team?
Describe any specific challenges you are facing
Starting a new business in a field where I have zero experience has been a great challenge. I love decor and have a creative side so stumbled into staging for some realtor friends. I’m learning the ropes as I go and continue to face new challenges everyday. However, I know it takes a lot of work to grow a business and I’m certainly passionate about home staging and interior decor.
What got you into staging in the first place?
I stumbled into staging since I have realtor friends who were inquiring about my services based on my own home decor.
What was your previous career?
I was an administrative analyst. There was little room for flexibility and creativity. After 12 years, I decided to resign from my job and pursue a new career in home staging.
What do you know now that you wished you knew on your first day of business?
I wished that I had interned for a staging company and learned the ropes prior to starting my own business. Most people think it’s easy, but they have no idea how much work it takes! The time, the manual labor and inventory you need to be successful!
What has been your biggest business challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest business challenge was figuring out the logistics of the business and not giving up when things are tough. I feel a great sense of accomplishment when an installation is complete and my vision/design boards come to life.
What objection have you heard from a client and how did you overcome it?
I had a client who was only comfortable with the color teal and freaked out when I told him I was doing black and white with a pop of yellow. He now trusts my color schemes.
