SSWF – Showhomes Home Staging
Introducing Kim Odom with Showhomes Home Staging serving Alabama Mobile and Baldwin County.
How long have you been in business?
I have been in business for two years.
Are you solo or have a team?
I have a great team.
Describe any specific challenges you are facing.
While I started as a Home Staging Company, our list of services has greatly expanded after being approached by clients that loved our design. I find adding an Designer/Project Manager to handle our larger jobs will benefit the business and give me more time to focus more ON the business as a whole.
What got you into staging in the first place?
I have always had a love for design and have a background in Interior Design for 20 + years. So after marrying my husband and moving back to the Gulf Coast, looking at so many vacant homes on the market, I decided to go into Home Staging. It seemed to be the right time to start something new and with a background in design it felt like a good fit for me.
What was your previous career?
I was an Interior Decorator/ Floral Designer.
What do you know now that you wished you knew on your first day of business?
Set yourself apart from everyone else. Like I always tell my clients, “You never get a second chance to make a FIRST impression”. You will have individuals that will ask you to adjust your pricing, but stay true to your product….cheaper is not always better!
What has been your biggest business challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge has been delegating jobs. I am very hands on ….it’s a work in progress.
What objection have you heard from a client and how did you overcome it?
The largest objection is pricing and clients not fully understanding the outcome and benefits of Staging. Having the right information available and explaining the work, quality of furnishings going into the home, TESTIMONIALS, and professional photos is always a plus.
We love seeing all your beautiful work, so remember to tag #stagingstudioweeklyfav on Instagram for a chance to be featured weekly!
